The 17 Biggest Chicago Tech Hires in October

This is our monthly feature where we recap the biggest tech hires in Chicago over the past month. Here’s our list of the top hires in Chicago tech for October:

kCura 

Chicago-based legal tech company kCura announced this month that it has hired Lisa Arthur as its chief marketing officer. Most recently, Arthur spent five years as CMO of Teradata Applications, and has held marketing leadership roles at Aprimo, Akamai Technologies and Oracle. She joins kCura as the company prepares to launch RelativityOne, its new cloud-based software that helps law firms manage electronic evidence.

Illinois Technology Association

The ITA announced it has added new advisory board positions to its Internet of Things Council, whose mission is to establish Chicago and the Midwest as an epicenter of IoT. The new advisors include Matthew Jennings, regional president – Americas of Bosch Software Innovations; Steven Loving, vice president of sales at ThingLogix; Chuck Medhurst, president and general manager of BMW Technology; Adebayo Onigbanjo, director of marketing at Zebra Technologies; and Kyla Williams, interim executive director at Smart Chicago Collaborative.

NuCurrent

NuCurrent, a wireless charging startup with over 50 patents granted or pending, announced it has hired Bob Giometti as its vice president of engineering. Prior to NuCurrent, Giometti served as senior director of engineering for Motorola Mobile Devices and oversaw the electrical development and product integration of the original Motorola RAZR, among other devices.

Raise

Chicago-based gift card marketplace Raise announced two new C-Level hires this month. The company hired Maureen Calabrese as its chief people officer and Jillian Sheehan as chief financial officer. Calabrese was previously the chief people officer at Cision, and Sheehan was the former CFO of Textura, where she led the group into an IPO and acquisition.

ReviewTrackers

Review monitoring startup ReviewTrackers announced that it has hired Josh Fosburg as the company’s VP of sales. Fosburg comes to ReviewTrackers from Chicago tech company Jellyvision, where he was the VP of sales. Fosburg also held leadership positions at eBay and Accuity Group, which is part of Accenture Interactive.

Cars.com

This month Cars.com announced it has hired James F. Rogers as the company’s chief legal officer. Rogers most recently served as senior vice president and general counsel for Orbitz, and prior to that was the senior vice president and general counsel for TLC Vision, North America’s leading LASIK provider.

EakPakd

School lunch delivery startup EatPakd announced it has hired Josh Evnin as its VP of product and engineering. Evnin was previously the VP of product at GiveForward, and prior to that was the director of user experience at Grubhub, where he helped to build the company’s user experience, engineering and product teams.

Grubhub

Grubhub announced the addition of two new members to its board of directors: Linda Johnson Rice, chairman of Johnson Publishing Company and chairman emeritus of EBONY Media Holdings, and David Habiger, a venture partner at the Pritzker Group and former interim CEO of Textura Corporation.

SpotHero

On-demand parking app SpotHero announced that it has hired Trish Lukasik as the company’s chief operating officer. Lukasik was most recently the chief customer officer for a $10 billion division of PepsiCo with a brand portfolio including Gatorade, Tropicana and Quaker Foods. Lukasik has also spent time at Procter & Gamble and The Coca-Cola Company.

Aon

Aon, a Chicago risk management and insurance brokerage, announced it has hired James C. Trainor as its senior vice president of the company’s Cyber Solutions Group. Trainor was previously the assistant director of the Cyber Division of the FBI.

Ascent Technologies 

Ascent, a Chicago company that builds software to help companies better manage regulatory risk and compliance obligations, announced it has hired Chris Doyle as its CTO. Doyle was previously the CTO at PrettyQuick, a service for funding and booking beauty appointments. PrettyQuick was acquired by Groupon in 2015.
