Chicago Inno Approved: The Startup Events You Need to Know This Week 46 (Hyde Park Angels)

Here are the Chicago Inno approved tech and startup events worth checking out this week.

Tuesday

The Corporate-Startup Challenge is hosting a panel on corporate-startup matchmaking at 1871 Tuesday at 1PM. Speakers include Lily Yeung, ‎Director of Corporate Development at Molex, and Nigel Smith, Strategic Alliances Manager for Caterpillar’s Analytics division. There will also be a moderated discussion with entrepreneurs and other members of the innovation community. More info here.

Wisconsin accelerator gener8tor is coming to Chicago for a happy hour on Tuesday. Hosted at ReviewTrackers, the accelerator will provide information about its upcoming program and attendees will hear from Chicago-based alumni of gener8tor about their experience in the program. gener8tor is currently accepting applications for its next program, “Milwaukee 2016.” More info here.

General Assembly is holing an IBM Watson event Tuesday where attendees will gain an understanding of the new era of cognitive computing, learn about the Watson technology, hear successful partner case studies across industries, and interact face-to-face with the Watson team. More info here.

Wednesday

Hyde Park Angels is hosting an event Wednesday at 1871 called How to Raise Venture Capital. Attendees will hear from successful entrepreneurs and investors, including, Al Goldstein, CEO of Avant, Rumi Morales, Executive Director of CME Ventures, Nick Solaro, Partner at Drive Capital, Guy Turner, Partner at Hyde Park Venture Partners, and Adam Tilton, Co-Founder & CEO of Rithmio. General Assembly and ContextMedia are hosting an event Wednesday called The Future of Employee Engagement and Culture. The meetup will discuss ways to boost employee involvement and create a culture that attracts and retains top talent. Speakers include Max Chopovsky, Founder of Chicago Creative Space, Katie De Voto, Talent Director at ContextMedia, Anna Burke Vice President of Marketing & Communications at HighGround, and Tamara Snyder, Senior Vice President of Employee Engagement Practice at Edelman. Thursday

Funding Feeding Frenzy, is a “Sharktank meets The Apprentice” event hosted at VentureSHOT. Entrepreneurs can demo their companies to angel investors during the Investor Demo Table Tour, and attendees will be able to network with other founders and investors. Friday

AT&T is hosting a Chicago Connected Car Hackathon on June 10 and 11. The focus of the Hackathon will be on Smart Cities and includes parking, maintenance and safety. It’s free to participants to attend, and prizes include $1,000 for first place price, $750 for second place prize and $500 for third. More info here.
