Moxie Jean, an online reseller of children’s clothing, has been bought by Schoola, a San Francisco-based online consignment shop.

Moxie Jean, a three-year-old company based in Arlington Heights, was co-founded by Sharon Schneider, Sandra Pinter and Rosalie Sturtevant, and is a graduate of Techstars Chicago. The company had raised about $1.4 million and had four full-time employees and 20 part-timers. Schneider has been CEO since the start and will continue with Schoola, according to this note on Moxie Jean’s website.

Terms of the deal, announced yesterday, were not disclosed.

Moxie Jean and Schoola both are online consignment shops for kids clothes, but Schoola has an unusual twist: 40 percent of the money paid for secondhand clothes goes to schools of the donor’s choice to pay for programs such as art and music. Schoola has partnered with about 13,000 schools. Moxie Jean was a traditional, for-profit business; it recently added maternity clothes to its product line.
