Women in FinTech Panel, May 9 at 5:15 p.m.

At this panel discussion hosted by Women in FinTech Chicago, tech leaders from KloudVentures, Invessence, Lismore Advisors and Grosvenor Capital Management will discuss the impact of technology on the financial services industry. The discussion will be bookended with opportunities to network with other members of the Chicago financial technology scene.

From Hadoop to Spark: Opportunities and Challenges in Making the Switch, May 9 at 5:30 p.m.

Join Networked Insights CTO Brad Burke for a discussion on how switching from Hadoop to Spark helped his company speed up its processing capabilities while at the same time lowering costs. Pizza and drinks will be provided, if you’re into that kind of thing.

Inner Workings of the Dark Web, May 9 at 6 p.m.

New technologies making the Dark Web more accessible has brought about a significant increase in the volume of illicit transactions conducted there. At this presentation, Chicago cybersecurity expert Johnny Xmas will explain the inner workings of the Dark Web, covering topics like cryptocurrency-enabled money laundering, hackers for hire and more.

The Chicago Tech Summit, May 10 at 8:30 a.m.

Hosted at the Chicago History Museum, this year’s Chicago Tech Summit will feature discussions about government and technology, Chicago as a city for building billion-dollar businesses and the state of Chicago tech and its talent pool. Speakers include Ocient’s Chris Gladwin, Groupon’s Stacey Kraft and Narrative Science’s Kris Hammond, just to name a few.

What You Need to Do Before Raising Capital, May 10 at 6:10 p.m.

If you’re hoping to raise money for your startup anytime soon, there’s a few things you need to get in place first. This panel discussion featuring Pritzker Group partner Adam Koopersmith and tech leaders from Coyote Logistics, OfficeLuv and ShipBob will dive into what those things are, as well as the question of when to start raising.
